A NEWSPAPER OF OUR OWN FOR THE IRMO COMMUNITY
A Community is only as strong as its newspaper.
Established in 1989 The New Irmo News is a weekly community newspaper serving Irmo, Harbison, Seven Oaks, Dutch Fork and St. Andrews. The New Irmo News is independently
owned and locally operated, relying on local contributors, freelance columnists,
photographers, writers, graphic artists, designers, digital publishing professionals and
reporters to keep the community informed of local news, happenings and events.
Each week, The New Irmo News publishes over 9,000 copies, reaching an
estimated 22,000 readers, primarily in the 29063 zip codes.
It has been said that a newspaper is the glue which holds a community together.
A community newspaper allows neighbors to share their news with neighbors. A
community newspaper allows schools, churches, small businesses, and civic organizations
to interact with the rest of the community. A community newspaper provides a positive
influence for families, emphasizing the good news about our world instead of the bad.
In short, a community newspaper improves our quality of life, and
makes our community a better place to live.
