36th Annual 4th of July Celebration on Lake Murray Set for June 29

Largest Fireworks Show in South Carolina, Presented by Lexington Medical Center

Columbia, SC – The Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board is thrilled to announce the 36th Annual 4th of July Celebration on Lake Murray, presented by Lexington Medical Center. The event will take place on Saturday, June 29, featuring South Carolina’s largest fireworks show, which will commence at 9:30 PM.

Spectacular Fireworks Display

The highlight of the celebration will be an awe-inspiring fireworks show, starting around 9:30 PM. Fireworks will be launched from two locations on the lake: Spence Island and Dreher Island, creating a breathtaking display visible from multiple vantage points. The fireworks will be synchronized with patriotic music broadcast on 93.1 The Lake, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Prime Viewing Locations

Public viewing is available at:

  • Lake Murray Public Park sites at the Dam
  • Dreher Island State Park

Both Lake Murray Dam Park sites, located in Irmo and Lexington, will remain open until they reach capacity. Due to ongoing construction at the Lake Murray Dam towers, there will be fewer parking spots available on the Lexington side, so plan to arrive early. Dominion Energy has implemented new safety protocols for visitors.

Live Broadcast and Entertainment

Radio station 93.1 The Lake will be broadcasting live from Dreher Island State Park, playing the synchronized music for the fireworks and entertaining the audience. Standard fees will apply at all park sites, state parks, boat launching sites, and marinas around Lake Murray.
