The Town of Irmo and the African American Historical Society of Irmo Present the 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future — Irmo Style!
Irmo, SC – The Town of Irmo and the African American Historical Society of Irmo proudly present the 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, an evening dedicated to culture, community, and commemoration. The celebration will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Prisma Health Amphitheater at Moore Park, located at 7507 Eastview Drive, Irmo, SC.

Juneteenth, also known as Liberation Day, marks the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas in 1865—two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. This significant day stands as a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.
The Irmo Juneteenth Celebration not only commemorates this historic moment but also honors local African American pioneers and influential figures whose legacies have impacted South Carolina and our nation.
This year’s celebration promises a vibrant evening full of live entertainment, cultural expression, and community spirit. Ken Cheeks and the Sunrise Jazz Ensemble will set the musical tone for the evening, alongside line dancing, cultural exhibits, food trucks, and more.

In the spirit of unity and giving back, the community is encouraged to participate in a non-perishable food drive earlier that day. Donations can be dropped off at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1150 Lake Murray Blvd, Irmo, SC, between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. All contributions will support families in need throughout the Irmo area.
All are welcome to attend this meaningful evening of joy, reflection, learning, and celebration. Bring your family, your friends, and your best dance moves—and experience Juneteenth, Irmo Style!
