The Chapin High School NJROTC will be holding its Anchors Aweigh 5k & Fun Run starting at 8:30 am March 28 at the school.
The event is a fundraiser for the Navy JROTC program for a field trip to Jacksonville, Florida.
It is intended to be a fun-filled family friendly experience in Chapin that encourages health, wellness, and fun. It is open to competitive runners as well as families and individuals who can just walk the course. It is US Track &Field certified (proctored by Strictly Running).
In addition to the 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run, there will be an Obstacle EGG-stravaganza just for children younger than 10. Kiddos will be able to hop, skip, and jump their way along a series of interactive activities led by cadets. They will receive a treat at each stop. After the course, there will be face painting, balloon animals, and other activities. The event will be free, but takes donations. It will be limited to 200 children.
The event will be partnering with HIS Radio this year. They will send their Fun Patrol to help host the event.
