Bethlehem was recreated at Union United Methodist Church, Irmo, S.C.

On December 3-5, Union United Methodist Church held its 28th annual “The Living Christmas Story”.  Cars were lined down the streets of Irmo, waiting to drive through and enjoy the beautiful scenes of Bethlehem. According to the “census”, which was taken at the entrance, there were a total of 1019 cars and 3569 people that drove through the reenactment to experience life in the times of Jesus’ birth. “The Living Christmas Story,” had many people from the Irmo community as villagers, blacksmiths, innkeepers, Herod’s Court, the marketplace and many more scenes that became the town of Bethlehem. The nativity included parents and their baby, along with a live camel, donkey, and sheep.

We are very thankful for the 300+ people who joined our cast and crew to put together such an amazing event for the community. Some of our friends of Union stated, “It was wonderful! Glad we could continue our tradition.” And another said, “Wonderful presentation for the whole family.”

We invite you to come to our next Christmas celebrations, “The Living Nativity” on December 19, at 10:30 a.m.  We also have the “Tapestry of Light, A Celtic Christmas Celebration” on December 19, at 4:00 p.m. in our sanctuary.

If you do not have a home church we invite you to join us. Our traditional service starts at 9:00 a.m. and our contemporary service starts at 11:00 a.m. To learn more about Union United Methodist Church please visit www.unionirmo.org or “Like” us on Facebook @unionumcirmo.
