Columbia approves plans for 300 apartments on Lake Murray Boulevard

Plans for a new 300-unit apartment complex on Lake Murray Boulevard have cleared the City of Columbia Planning Commission.

The proposed Madison Apartments would feature one- and two-bedroom units in 12 buildings on approximately 25 acres. Entrances to the development are planned for Lake Murray Boulevard and Club Road, which connects to Parkridge Drive.

Developers plan to preserve approximately 17 acres of the property as green space, leaving much of the site undeveloped.

A traffic study prepared for the project estimates the development could generate approximately 1,800 additional vehicle trips, but concluded the additional traffic would have a minimal impact on surrounding intersections.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2028.
