LEXINGTON, S.C. – A Columbia man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting Saturday afternoon.
Latif Shi’Yon Elijah Ross, 23, is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a person prohibited, according to arrest warrants.
“Deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex off Fernandina Road just before 1 p.m. Saturday,” said Jay Koon. “They found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.”
Deputies attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services, according to Koon.
“After speaking with witnesses, detectives determined Ross was arguing with the victim before shooting him,” Koon said. “Ross then left the scene and was arrested by deputies Sunday morning.”
Ross is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
