COMET’s Maurice Pearl Elected to State Transportation Board

COLUMBIA — Maurice Pearl, Executive Director and CEO of The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET), has been elected Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Transportation Association of South Carolina (TASC).

The election took place earlier this month, with Pearl chosen to serve a two-year term alongside a newly elected leadership team.

“I am honored to serve the transportation community across South Carolina in this new capacity,” said Pearl. “TASC plays a vital role in advocating for public transportation throughout our state, and I look forward to working with fellow board members to advance mobility solutions that connect people to opportunities and improve quality of life for all South Carolinians.”

Pearl brings decades of public transit experience and operational knowledge to the TASC Board. In his new role, he will help guide the organization’s mission to improve transportation access to employment, healthcare, education, and other vital services across South Carolina.

Allison Terracio, Chair of The COMET Board of Directors, praised the appointment.

“We are proud to see Mr. Pearl recognized for his leadership and expertise in public transportation,” said Terracio. “His election to the TASC Board reflects not only his dedication to improving mobility in our region but also his commitment to advancing transportation solutions across the state. This appointment will benefit both The COMET and the broader transportation community.”
