District Five student selected to serve on Shrine Bowl athletic training staff

An Irmo High School athletic training student aide has been selected to serve on the 2022 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas’ athletic training staff for the 84th annual game.

Aryana Stokes is one of only two students in the entire state of South Carolina selected for this honor. She has been a student aide for Irmo Sports Medicine for three years and captain of the team for two of those years.

“I am so honored for this great opportunity,” Stokes said. “This brings me excitement every time I think about it. I hope to learn more techniques about athletic training, and how to work with new people.”

Annually, athletic training student aides are nominated from both North and South Carolina and two students are selected from each state to join the staff.

“I could not be more proud of Aryana for being selected to be a student athletic training aide for the South Carolina team,” Irmo Head Athletic Trainer Timothy Kinney, Jr. said. “Aryana is a leader in the classroom with a 4.9 GPA and on the field, helping the younger students as they take care of the athletes. She has earned this spot and is deserving of being selected to serve our athletes.”

The Shrine Bowl will be played on Saturday, December 17, 2022. at Viking Stadium on the campus of Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg, SC.
