After more than 40 years serving South Carolina, Doctors Care is officially transitioning to Novant Health Urgent Care this summer. The change follows Novant Health’s acquisition last November of UCI Medical Affiliates Inc., which included 52 Doctors Care locations and 20 Progressive Physical Therapy clinics, the latter now rebranding as Novant Health Physical Therapy.
“While our name changes, our commitment to accessible, quality care remains the same,” said Richard Walsh, senior vice president and president of urgent care operations and transformation at Novant Health. “This transition strengthens our ability to support patients statewide with their unexpected health needs, while connecting them to Novant Health’s wider network of hospitals and specialists — preserving the trusted care South Carolinians have relied on since 1981.”
Rebranding began in early June at the Simpsonville location and has since spread to facilities across the Upstate and Midlands regions. Remaining locations, including those in Beaufort and Hilton Head Island, are expected to complete the transition by Labor Day.
Patients will continue to receive care from experienced clinicians at more than 50 locations statewide, with walk-in availability and online scheduling options. The clinics accept most insurance plans and provide comprehensive urgent care services for illnesses and injuries.
The connected Novant Health Physical Therapy clinics, most located alongside urgent care centers, will continue to offer integrated rehabilitation services throughout South Carolina.
“When you’re ill or injured, prompt and coordinated care matters,” said Dr. Shelley Janssen, chief medical officer for Novant Health Urgent Care in South Carolina. “Our patients can expect to see experienced clinicians without delay, and seamless follow-up or specialist referrals within our broader health system.”
