Dutch Fork, Irmo involved with holiday tournaments

Both the Irmo boys and girls basketball team head into the holiday break on a roll.

The Lady Yellow Jackets have reached 10 wins under new head coach Coretta Ferguson. This past weekend, they posted wins over T.L. Hanna (68-56) and Pickens (68-67) to win the Silver Bracket of the “She Got Next” Christmas Classic at J.L. Mann High School.

Meanwhile, the Irmo boys are riding a 7-game winning streak. It will play host to the Big Red Box Holiday Invitational starting Monday.

Dutch Fork

The Lady Silver Foxes participated in the Christmas Classic at Lexington High School.

After rolling past Hammond School 60-26, they fell to defending Class 4A champion North Augusta 46-32 in the final of the Pink Bracket.

Both losses suffered this season by Dutch Fork (8-2) have come to reigning state champions. The other defeat was to Class 5A Division I champion Blythewood.

After a 10-day break, the undefeated Dutch Fork boys return to action also at Lexington High School. It will compete in the seventh annual Lexington Roundball Classic (formerly the Cayce Roundball Classic).

The Silver Foxes (9-0) will play in the American Bracket and open at noon Friday against Hammond School.
