Dutch Fork’s winning streaks continue

By Thomas Grant Jr.

The winning ways in region play continued for 4-time defending Class 5A champion Dutch Fork.

The 28-7 win over Lexington was the 16th consecutive victory for the Silver Foxes. It was also their 14th straight in region play, improving to 50-2 since 2015.

Running back Quintin Wilson had the first of his two rushing touchdowns to open the game. After a 14-yard punt by Medina Gabriel on Dutch Fork’s second series, Lexington needed just two plays to tie the game on a 2-yard run by quarterback Easton Crocker.

It was the only score of the game for the Wildcats. The Dutch Fork defense collected three interceptions, two by defensive back K.J. Dupree.

Dutch Fork reclaimed the lead on a 7-yard run by quarterback Jaxon Knotts. He and Wilson also had touchdown runs in the second half to close out the scoring.

Knotts finished 15-27 for 243 yards, with wide receiver Maleek Miller hauling down five receptions for 141 yards. Knotts also had a team-high 45 rushing yards, followed with Wilson with 44.

James Scott had a team-high seven tackles and an interception.

This was the 13th consecutive win over Lexington for Dutch Fork (5-0, 1-0). It now looks to remain perfect against Lexington/Richland District Five rival Chapin Friday on the road.
