The fifth-annual High School Blitz Senior Showcase Bowl took place Saturday at Brookland-Cayce High School.
In both cases, players from throughout the Palmetto State overlooked for similar events took part. The East team included Irmo players linebacker Marquell Lewis, offensive lineman Bryant Ham and wide receiver Caleb Alexander.
It’s the first of two Showcase Bowls taking place in West Columbia over the next two weeks. The Junior Showcase Bowl will take place on January 14.
Lewis had a fumble recovery and sack for the East in the 28-7 win. He was part of an East defense that scored three touchdowns off interception returns, two by Game MVP Kylen Brown of Timberland.
The West team had three Dutch Fork players linebacker Bryce Nutail, who had six tackles, and offensive linemen Jaden Cook and Camden Myers, Airport wide receiver Shilo Myers and Gray Collegiate defensive back Rilan Cunningham.
