IRMO – Moore Park will host a Buy Nothing Irmo event this Saturday, November 15, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Buy Nothing Irmo is part of a nationwide movement that offers free food, clothing, services, and other items to the community — all at no cost to participants.
“Just come by and pick up what you need,” said Chelsea Christiansen, the event organizer. “Donations are made by local residents, businesses, and stores.”
Christiansen is sponsoring four Buy Nothing events in Irmo this month alone. The goal, she said, is to encourage neighbors to share items and build stronger communities through generosity and connection.
The Buy Nothing Project began in 2013 as a Facebook campaign and has since grown into a global movement with active groups across the U.S. and beyond.
Irmo’s local group now has more than 4,000 members, with other nearby municipalities also hosting their own Buy Nothing groups.
Moore Park is located at 7473 Church Street in Irmo.
