The Mast General Store in Columbia will once again celebrate Friends Day on Friday, September 6, donating 10 percent of the day’s sales to support the Palmetto Conservation Foundation and its signature project, the Palmetto Trail.
In addition, from September 1–7, guests can choose to round up purchases to the nearest dollar, with the extra change benefiting the foundation’s efforts to preserve and expand the trail.
“Our Friends Day partners play an important part in the stability of our communities,” said Mast Store president Lisa Cooper. “They activate individuals and businesses around a local treasure to not only build, save, or improve it but also to strengthen the community itself.”
Launched in 2008, Friends Day shines a spotlight on organizations working to preserve the unique character of local communities. The Palmetto Trail, the foundation’s largest project, stretches nearly 400 miles across 14 counties, offering free public access to a variety of passages—from mountain wilderness and backcountry trails to greenways, rail-to-trail paths, and even the steps of the South Carolina State House.
The Palmetto Conservation Foundation is working toward its Finish the Trail campaign, which seeks to connect the completed sections all the way to the Upstate terminus.
Shoppers are encouraged to stop by Mast Store on Friends Day to not only support this important cause through purchases but also to learn more about volunteer opportunities and ways to contribute time and talent to the trail’s future.
