IRMO, S.C. — Burn Boot Camp’s annual Level Up Games community fitness competition brought together 70 athletes last week for a demanding test of strength, endurance and mental toughness.
Irmo residents Amanda Boyeson and Lauren McClain teamed up to finish second in Group B.
Competitors were tested through three workouts that measured speed, stamina, strength and proper technique. The strenuous events included box jumps, push-ups, pull-ups, kettlebell squat cleans, presses and devil’s presses.
Athletes used weights and other equipment while being carefully judged on proper form and execution. Advanced competition divisions incorporate additional challenges, including battle ropes, heavier equipment and medicine balls, to test endurance and power.
Burn Boot Camp programs are designed to accommodate a variety of fitness levels, with the Level Up Games providing an opportunity for participants to challenge themselves in a competitive setting.
