Irmo Faith Community Observes National Day of Prayer

Members of Irmo’s faith community gathered at the Prisma Health Amphitheater in Moore Park on Thursday, May 1, to take part in the National Day of Prayer, joining people across the country in a unified call to spiritual reflection and encouragement.

The event drew residents, ministers, and local officials, who shared prayers and messages of hope from a variety of religious traditions. The gathering emphasized unity, peace, and community support during a time of reflection and renewal.

Mayor Bill Danielson welcomes citizens to National Day of Prayer at Moore Park.

Observed annually on the first Thursday of May, the National Day of Prayer is a congressionally designated event inviting Americans to “turn to God in prayer and meditation.” It was formalized in 1952, during the Korean War, though its roots trace back to national observances in the late 18th century. Each year, the President of the United States issues a proclamation encouraging participation nationwide.
