IRMO – For the sixth year in a row, the Irmo Fire District has been recognized as a Fire Safe South Carolina Community—a distinction that highlights the department’s continued commitment to fire prevention and public safety.

The Fire Safe SC Community Designation is awarded to fire departments across the state that go above and beyond in educating and protecting their communities. To earn the 2025 honor, Irmo Fire District (IFD) firefighters completed extensive training programs, conducted live demonstrations, participated in local career days, and delivered fire safety presentations in every school within the district.
“This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” the department said in a statement. “We’re proud to make fire safety a priority in Irmo and to work closely with families, schools, and local organizations to keep our community protected.”
The Fire Safe SC initiative, supported by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and other partners, encourages proactive public education efforts and fosters collaboration between fire departments and their communities.
From teaching children how to respond in emergencies to installing smoke detectors in homes, IFD’s efforts continue to make a lasting impact.
“We are committed to ensuring our community is—and remains—fire safe,” the department added.
