Fitness event will raise money for local nonprofit providing shoes and socks to students.
IRMO – The Irmo Fire High Intensity Team will host its inaugural Pump & Run 5K on Nov. 7, challenging participants to test their strength and endurance while supporting a local nonprofit.
The event begins with a bench press challenge in which participants complete as many repetitions as possible using a predetermined percentage of their body weight. Each successful repetition, up to a maximum of 30, will deduct 30 seconds from the participant’s official 5K finish time.
Participants who prefer not to compete in the bench press challenge can still take part in the 5K run or walk.
All profits from registration will be donated to Sole Stepping, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides new shoes and socks to elementary school students in South Carolina.
