Having won the Southeast Regional, the Irmo Senior softball team headed to Delaware looking to continue its success in the Senior League Softball World Series.
Grouped in Pool B, Irmo got off to a winning start by defeating YYC Softball Little League out of Calgary, Alberta in Canada in Monday’s opener.
Makenna Reimer drove in three runs; Chapin’s Reagan Haggard had a game-tying 2-run homer and Bridget Kean went 2-3 with an RBI.
The next two games Tuesday saw Irmo fall 3-1 to Central Region champion Beardstown, Ill. and 16-4 in five innings to Kennemerland Little League out of the Europe-Africa Region.
Irmo faced Honolulu, Hawaii out of the West Region Wednesday. A win would even its mark in Pool B and help earn a Top Four seed to advance to bracket play starting Friday.
