While two Irmo Little League teams are headed to its respective Junior League World Series, the Majors moved one step closer Monday.
Irmo defeated Northwood Little League All-Stars 11-2 to win the South Carolina Little League Baseball title in Florence.
It advanced to the Southeast Region tournament in Warner Robins, Ga. where it will open against Georgia at 4 p.m. on July 31.
ESPN+ will air all of the tournament games. The winner will advance to the Little League Baseball World Series starting Aug. 13 in Williamsport, Penn.
Irmo opened the tournament last Thursday with a 9-1 win over the host team. In that game, three Major pitchers combined to allow no hits, two walks and post 15 strikeouts.
The next night, Irmo allowed just three hits in a 10-0 shutout of Greenwood/Abbeville.
On Saturday, Irmo ‘s pitching staff allowed just two hits in a 2-0 win over Northwood to reach Monday’s night. For the tournament, the Majors allowed just five hits and its three pitchers combined to strike out 39 batters.
