An Irmo native and graduate of Irmo High School and the University of South Carolina, Prentiss Brewer is returning to her hometown with a strong commitment to community engagement.
Brewer said her love for community events began with childhood memories of the Okra Strut, a tradition her family still enjoys today, including their cherished Okra Santa ornament. Those experiences helped shape her belief that well-organized events strengthen civic pride and bring communities together.
Brewer brings extensive experience in tourism and municipal leadership. She previously worked with the Brevard Chamber of Commerce, where she managed day-to-day operations and promotions for the Transylvania County Tourism Development Authority.
Her professional experience also includes service on several community boards, including Vision Transylvania, the Boiling Springs Business Association, Friends of DuPont State Recreational Forest and the Transylvania Community Arts Council.
Brewer has coordinated and supported a wide range of events, including the Downtown Brevard Christmas Parade, where she oversaw planning from theme development and permitting to safety coordination. She also assisted with major festivals such as the White Squirrel Festival, Halloweenfest and Fourth of July celebrations, as well as business events including annual galas, expos and candidate forums.
Outside of her professional work, Brewer volunteers with Pawmetto Lifeline and advocates for the organization’s spay and neuter clinic.
Brewer said her goal is to help ensure community events in Irmo are safe, welcoming and reflective of the town’s character.
