One of five college football teams will celebrate more than Independence Day this weekend.
On Friday, 4-star offensive tackle Nate Carson will announce his college choice from St. Matthews. The decision will be revealed on CBS Sports’ YouTube Channel.
Carson is expected to choose between South Carolina, Clemson, Colorado, Georgia and Texas A&M. The Gamecocks gave Carson his first Division I offer in September 2024.
Since transferring to the Yellow Jackets two years ago from Gray Collegiate Academy, the 6-foot 4, 290-pound Carson has been a staple at right tackle. His play has helped Irmo reach back-to-back Class 5A Division II championship games.
Carson is the second Irmo college prospect in three months to announcement his selection. In May, 5-star defensive end Jaiden Bryan flipped from LSU to Miami.
The 6-foot-3, 260-pound senior has racked up 160 tackles over the past two seasons.
