Irmo celebrated its 49th Okra Strut in the last 50 years September 29 and 30.
The two-day event featured a Friday evening street dance, a Saturday morning parade, arts and crafts, rides and amusements, live bands, entertainment on Saturday, as well as lots of festival food.
Attendance for the celebration averages around 25,000. Money raised by the festival is put back into the community through charitable contributions to local civic and school organizations, for scholarships and improvements of public areas.
This year’s musical headliners were The L.A. Maybe and The Terence Young Music Project on Friday night with The Reggie Sullivan Band and The Spin Doctors on Saturday night.
