The African American Historical Society of Irmo invites the community to explore a special Black History Month exhibit at the Lexington County Library (Irmo branch) from February 1 through February 28.
This exhibit, which first debuted during the 2022 Juneteenth Celebration in Irmo, showcases the rich history and enduring legacy of Black Americans in the town. Developed by a dedicated committee of lifelong Irmo residents, the project highlights the contributions of notable Black citizens whose influence has reached beyond the local community.
The exhibit serves as a powerful reminder of the profound impact Black individuals have had on Irmo’s past and continue to have on its present.
The Black History Month exhibit will be on display daily from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lexington County Library’s Irmo branch, located at 6251 St. Andrews Road. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the vibrant history that has shaped the Irmo community.
