Kenneth R Uschelbec of Columbia, died Friday, August 4, 2023, at Generations of Irmo. He was 84 years old. Ken was a native of Cleveland, OH. After graduating from Fairview High School, he attended Muskingum College where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree.
After over 40 years in Sales, he retired as a Regional Sales Manager for Morton Powder Coatings.
After retiring, he and his wife of 60 years, Marianne, were able to travel extensively. His love for his wife was like no other. He was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary; State Constable, where he volunteered for courtroom security; a proud member of the Masons; a member of the Elks, Jaycees, and a lifelong supporter of the NRA. Ken was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He was especially proud of his kids and grandkids. His hobbies included shooting sports, knife sharpening, and boating on Lake Murray.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne; daughter, Beth (Jeff) Teague; son, Jim (Lainie) Uschelbec; sister, Kathy (Jay) Dawson; grandchildren, Matthew, Adam and Griffin Uschelbec; Amanda Teague and Lydia Teague. He is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Helen Uschelbec, and Gretchen and Heidi, his beloved Dobermans.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, August 26th from 11-1 pm at Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin.
