The 2024 Yamaha Rightwaters Bassmaster Kayak Series, scored by TourneyX, is gearing up for its 5th season at Lake Murray on February 24-25, 2024. Breaking records, the tournament has seen a registration surge, with over 230 participants signing up, making it the most significant number in a regular season tournament.
Hosted by Capital City/Lake Murray Country (CCLMC), the tournament is anticipated to be highly competitive and promises impressive results. Miriam Atria, President/CEO of CCLMC, expressed excitement about hosting over 200 kayak anglers from across the country and expects Lake Murray to provide a challenging event with strong final numbers.
Bassmaster Kayak Series angler Barry Davis shared insights into the conditions, mentioning the transition of bass from winter to spring patterns. The unpredictable weather adds an element of challenge, but Lake Murray has a history of delivering exceptional results, with the potential for anglers to catch notable-sized bass.
Scheduled for February 24-25, the tournament serves as the first opportunity for anglers to earn points towards the Dakota Lithium Bassmaster Kayak Series Angler of the Year title. Anglers will launch from various points, with the public welcome to attend the registration meeting at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College on Friday, February 23, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Lake Murray, ranked No. 4 on Bassmaster Magazine’s 2023 100 Best Bass Lakes list, offers ample opportunities for anglers with its diverse environments. The scoring system for the tournament is based on the length of each contestant’s catch, using ¼ inch increments, and the top five finishers will advance to the Bassmaster Kayak Series Championship held with the Bassmaster Classic.
