Lexington Medical Center Begins Administering COVID-19 Boosters

Lexington Medical Center is administering COVID-19 boosters to eligible individuals at its vaccination clinic located at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia.
 
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control have approved booster doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for specific groups and outlined when the doses should be given.
 
  • People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care setting should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.
 
  • People aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.
 
  • People aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.
 
  • People aged 18–64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.
 
To expedite the registration process, individuals are asked to bring their COVID-19 vaccination card showing their first two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The booster dose is the same dosage as the first two dosages of the Pfizer-BioNTech. The booster dose should be administered at least six months following the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
 
Lexington Medical Center’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic is located inside the Health and Wellness Center at Brookland Baptist Church at 1066 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
