Little League All-Star tournaments are underway with local Irmo Little League (ILL) teams in the mix.
In last weekend’s District 3 Coaches Pitch Baseball tournament two Irmo teams competed with two teams from the Trenholm Little League and two from the Mid-Carolina Little League.
Mid-Carolina was the host team for the multi-day event at its fields in Pomaria.
Irmo Green started with a 10-8 win against Trenholm Red on Friday, and then played Irmo Gold Saturday. The Gold team won that one 15-6, and Irmo Green was on the field again a short time later against Mid-Carolina National.
Mid-Carolina won that one 18-6, and Irmo Green completed its run in the tournament with that game.
But then Irmo Gold played its second game on Sunday afternoon and took a 13-3 loss against Trenholm Blue. Gold played again in a late afternoon game and completed its run in the tournament with a 10-6 loss against Mid-Carolina American.
Trenholm Blue then won the District 3 tournament with a 6-3 win against Mid-Carolina American on Monday.
The next District 3 Little League Baseball tournament is set to kick-off June 16 and run through June 20, and that one will be played at Friarsgate Park with the Irmo Little League hosting.
Eight, 9 and 10-year old players from Irmo Little League, Trenholm Little League and Mid-Carolina Little League will be playing for the district championship and a chance to compete in the state tournament.
And the 8, 9 and 10-year District 3 Softball Tournament will also be happening that same weekend at the Trenholm Little League home field.
This tournament will include two teams; Trenholm and Irmo. These two will play each other twice in the same day, and then play a third game the following day if a tiebreaker is needed.
Now that the All-Star tournaments are underway, they will continue through most of July, including district, state and regional events.
