Local Little League teams advance

While Irmo Little League teams have now completed their 2022 state tournaments, some of them have advanced to regional tournaments at various sites around the Southeast.

Today, Thursday, Irmo Little League’s (ILL) Juniors softball team is set to start the Southeast Regional Tournament at Salisbury, NC after winning the state championship recently at Darlington, and the ILL’s Intermediate baseball team will also kick off its regional tournament today at Kernersville, North Carolina.

And on Friday, Irmo’s Seniors Division Baseball team will start the regional tournament at Safety Harbor, Florida after recently winning the Seniors Division State Tournament.

Also, the Irmo Little League (ILL) Juniors Division baseball team earned its state title Monday with a win against Greenville in the tournament championship game and has advanced to the Southeast Regional Tournament at Broadway, VA beginning August 4.

Also this week, Irmo’s Majors baseball team advanced to the state tournament championship on Tuesday where it completed the season as state runner-up with a 6-1 loss to Northwood in that title game.

In addition to these five Irmo Little League teams, four other South Carolina Little League District 3 teams finished as state runner-up: Trenholm Little League (3) and Mid-Carolina Little League (1). District 3 teams finished as state champion or state runner-up in nine of 10 state tournaments, according to information posted by the League.
