Local swimmers take titles

Emmanuel Gadson of Irmo came away with three Class 4A medals. He won the 100 butterfly, was second in 100 breaststroke and third in 100 freestyle. 

Ryan Folding was second in the 50 freestyle to help the Yellow Jackets finish eighth as a team.

Dutch Fork’s Emily McMahan won the 100 freestyle and was part of both the winning 200 individual medley and 200 freestyle relay teams. The Lady Silver Foxes finished seventh overall.

For the second straight year, Maecy Wells of River Bluff won a state title at the S.C. High School League Class 5 A swimming championships.

Wells took first place in the 100 Butterfly and 100 backstroke at the event held at the University of South Carolina Natatorium.

Lexington’s Hanna Eckart was third in the 500 freestyle.

In the boys division, Lexington’s Noah Blashka won the Class 5A 100 freestyle and was second in the 209 freestyle.
