Loveland Coffee Holds Tasting Event

IRMO – Coffee enthusiasts gathered at Loveland Coffee on Carlisle Street for a coffee cupping, or tasting event, held on October 18, 2025.

The session invited participants to explore the distinct flavors and aromas of different coffees by tasting them side by side. Cupping helps coffee lovers develop sensory awareness and better understand how to select coffees that suit their preferences.

While wine tastings are well-known, coffee cupping remains a relatively new experience for many in the Columbia area.

The event was led by Beach Loveland, owner and roast master of Loveland Coffee, along with Jayant Sathe, a local resident and author of Elixir Named Coffee.

Nine participants attended the interactive session, which included a live coffee-roasting demonstration followed by a guided tasting. Using the worldwide standard coffee cupping protocol, attendees sampled and compared three specialty coffees from different origins, gaining insight into how flavor profiles vary by processing method and roast level.

Guests said they enjoyed learning about the nuances of coffee and how different roasting techniques bring out unique aromas and tastes.

Loveland Coffee has been hosting regular coffee talks with Mr. Sathe and plans to offer more cupping sessions and educational events in the future.
