IRMO, S.C. — The Irmo Town Council opened its recent meeting with a special recognition of U.S. Marine Corps veteran and local entrepreneur Chris Arzu, who was invited to lead the community in the Pledge of Allegiance.
In recognition of his military service and contributions to the local community, Arzu was presented with the official U.S. Marine Corps flag that recently flew over Irmo’s Veterans Park.
Arzu served eight years in the Marine Corps, including assignments at Camp Pendleton in California and at Camp McCrady in South Carolina with Fox Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.
During his military service, Arzu demonstrated leadership and dedication. As a Lance Corporal, he earned his Marine Corps Martial Arts Program Black Belt, becoming one of the lowest-ranking Marines to achieve the distinction. He also earned a master’s degree in business while serving with Fox Company.
Today, Arzu brings that same discipline to the Irmo business community as the owner and operator of Sergeant Fitness. Through programs focused on physical conditioning, self-defense, kickboxing and mixed martial arts, he helps local residents develop strength, practical skills and confidence.
The Town Council expressed its appreciation to Arzu for his military service, continued investment in the Irmo community and example of local leadership.
