IRMO, SC – May 21, 2025 – In an effort to promote literacy and build stronger community ties, the mayors of Irmo, Lexington, and Chapin are teaming up this summer for a special initiative: Tuesday Morning Story Time in the Park.
Beginning May 20 and running through August 26, the three municipal leaders will take turns reading to children at various parks across the area. Each event will begin at 10:30 a.m., offering families a fun and educational way to spend their summer mornings.
“This is a great opportunity to inspire a love of reading while connecting with the community in a relaxed setting,” said Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson. “We’re proud to be part of something that brings our towns together for a good cause.”

Families are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy a morning of storytelling, fun, and community engagement. The initiative underscores the importance of summer reading and supports young learners in maintaining literacy skills while school is out.
