IRMO, S.C. — The Town of Irmo’s commitment to supporting neighbors in need was on display July 30 as Irmo resident Cynthia B. received a $1,500 grant through the Mayor’s Uplift Initiative.
Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson presented the check to Cynthia, who has faced significant hardships in recent months, including apartment flooding, ongoing health challenges, and the responsibility of caring for her autistic grandson.
The Mayor’s Uplift Initiative was created specifically to assist Irmo residents experiencing unexpected financial hardships. Founded by Mayor Danielson in July 2025, the program relies on donations from community members and local businesses to provide short-term assistance that helps families bridge difficult times.
“The goal is to bridge the gap for Irmo residents who need help,” Danielson said. “The way to do that is to make sure they have food in their refrigerator, food in their pantry, and that their power remains on during the summer and winter months.”
The initiative focuses on providing practical, immediate relief for residents facing temporary crises, helping them maintain essential needs while they work toward greater stability.
