McGregor Hosts Successful Earth Day Celebration

The fourth annual Earth Day celebration at McGregor Presbyterian Church drew a strong turnout on April 18, offering a day of education and community engagement.

Visitors explored 20 informational stations covering topics such as energy, plants, recycling, soil, water, wildlife, and buying local. The event provided hands-on learning opportunities for all ages.

Community partners included the Congaree Riverkeeper, Final Victory Animal Rescue, Keep the Midlands Beautiful, Irmo High School Special Education students, Lexington County Soil and Water Conservation District, South Carolina Forestry Commission, and Snug Harbor Wildlife Rescue, among others. Live music was provided by the Carolina Bluegrass Style Band.

The event was organized by the McGregor Presbyterian Green Team and sponsored by Mathias Sandwich Shop, Wingard’s Market, and Midlands Clay Society.

Proceeds from pottery bowl sales will benefit the School District Five Snack Pack Program, which supports area students in need.
