Irmo High School hosted the Midlands Region Orchestra Event February 19 and 20 at the Center for the Arts. The event featured three conductors who worked with students both in-person and on Google Meets.
Several teachers also participated with the students by playing instruments with them during rehearsals and answering any questions the students had.
The conductors were fantastic at bringing the virtual kids into the experience and making them feel a part of the weekend.
Irmo High School Orchestra Director Colleen Marcou said, “The entire weekend was a great success for all involved but especially for the students. They haven’t been able to perform live in almost a year and they needed this event as a real pick-me-up for their musician souls.”
