Irmo, SC – Mike Ward, a longtime community leader and advocate, has officially announced his candidacy for Irmo Town Council. Ward, who most recently ran for Lexington-Richland School District 5 Board, said his decision to seek a seat on the Town Council comes as a direct response to numerous community members urging him to step up amid recent local challenges.
“Recent events in our community have led numerous friends, neighbors, and community leaders to reach out, asking me to step up in a different capacity—as a candidate for Irmo Town Council,” Ward explained. “It was not my original plan, but after careful consideration, and conversation with my family, I recognize that serving our community means responding when called, especially in challenging times.”
Ward is well-known locally for his extensive leadership and volunteer service, including his current roles as Chair of the Irmo Okra Strut Commission, VP of Advocacy for the South Carolina PTA, and President of InfraGard South Carolina, an organization partnering with the FBI to enhance the security of critical infrastructure.
“My promise to our community is simple: I will always prioritize the well-being, transparency, and integrity our town deserves,” Ward emphasized. “I am stepping forward because our community deserves proven, responsive leadership, and am focused on restoring trust and ensuring safety.”
Ward’s campaign emphasizes a commitment to integrity, public safety, responsible growth, and responsive local governance. His track record demonstrates the proven leadership necessary to address the current challenges facing Irmo effectively.
The election for Irmo Town Council will be held on June 3, 2025.
