The Irmo Police Department (IPD), in partnership with the Irmo Police Department Community Foundation, is encouraging local businesses and individuals to consider donating to the 2025 Shop with a Cop program this holiday season. Shop with a Cop is an annual event that brings Irmo law enforcement and local families together for an afternoon of connection, Christmas cheer, and meaningful support for families in need.
During the event, families selected from the Irmo area are paired with IPD officers for a supervised shopping trip at the Irmo Walmart. Each family receives a budget—funded entirely through community donations—to purchase food, toys, clothing, and essential household items. More than a shopping experience, the event builds positive relationships and trust between young people and the officers who serve the Irmo community.
“Shop with a Cop is one of the most meaningful events of the year for our officers,” said Bobby Dale, Chief of Police for the Irmo Police Department. “It’s not just about gifts. It’s about giving kids a joyful experience and showing them that their community cares deeply about them.”
Families selected for the 2025 program will shop alongside officers on December 11 and December 18 from 2–4 p.m.
