Prisma Health earns ‘Most Wired’ award

Prisma Health has received the Quality Award from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), achieving Ambulatory Level 8 certification through CHIME’s “Digital Health Most Wired” program. Prisma Health was awarded this honor in the Acute, Ambulatory and Long Term Post-Acute Care categories.

The mission of the Digital Health program is to elevate the health of communities by encouraging the most effective use of information management. The annual survey is intended to improve patient safety and outcomes by driving enhancements in the healthcare information technology and security industry.

“I am so proud of our organization for being awarded with this industry-respected recognition,” said Rich Rogers, senior vice president and chief information officer. “It has been a journey to successfully transition to common systems and technology across our health system. I look forward to us collectively continuing to improve our tools and technology in support of our deserving team members and patients.”

Healthcare systems are rated on responses to a 99-question survey across seven categories relating to technologies and strategies deployed (such as population health analytics, telehealth, patient portals, etc.) to analyze data and achieve more meaningful clinical and efficiency outcomes, especially those that expand access to healthcare. More than 36,000 organizations were surveyed and Level 10 is the highest certification.

Prisma Health’s Information Technology Services (ITS) division scored high in such areas as:

 • Wireless communications support

 • Remote access for clinicians and secure messaging

 • Integrated clinical application suites

 • Multifactor authentication of users

 • Mobile device management

 • Strong methods of identifying security vulnerabilities (simulated phishing exercises are just one example)

 • Computer-based education provided to nurses and physicians

 • Telemedicine opportunities for patients

 • Full IT support for opioid use reduction programs
