Prisma health supports Future Scholar program

State Treasurer Curtis Loftis has announced a new collaboration between Future Scholar, South Carolina’s 529 College Savings Plan, and Prisma Health to promote the importance of saving for college among new parents.

“It’s never too early to start saving for your baby’s future. Prisma Health hospitals deliver approximately 15,000 babies each year, and we are excited to partner with them to highlight this important message to parents welcoming newborns,” said Treasurer Loftis, who serves as administrator of the Future Scholar 529 plan.

Parents of babies born at any of Prisma Health’s nine hospitals between July 1 and September 30, will receive a Future Scholar goody bag, which includes information about South Carolina’s award-winning 529 college savings plan and a chance to win a privately funded $5,290 Future Scholar grant for their baby’s future education expenses.

To enter the contest, parents will register via a QR code provided in the goody bag for a chance to win the $5,290 grant to jumpstart their baby’s savings. A random drawing from all eligible entries received will be held October 17.

Entrants must be 18 years old, the parent or legal guardian of the eligible child and a South Carolina resident. For more on the official rules, visit FutureScholar.com/Prisma.
