Paying real estate taxes in Richland County just got a lot easier, thanks to a new web-based service offered by the County Treasurer’s Office.
The service is part of the County’s planned payment program, which allows residents to break up their real estate tax payments into manageable installments. The program is already used by around 4,000 taxpayers each year, and now, with the launch of this online option, payments can be made from home with a credit card or electronic check.
“My goal as Treasurer is to continuously expand our services through technology and innovation in order to help our citizens,” said Richland County Treasurer Kendra Dove. “No one loves paying taxes, but my office is going to make sure it’s as easy as possible when you do.”
Previously, all payments under the planned payment program had to be made by mail or in person. With this upgrade, residents can now visit the Treasurer’s webpage at richlandcountysc.gov/treasurer to make secure payments online once they’ve established a payment agreement.
The new service also helps the County Treasurer’s Office. Staff previously processed more than 20,000 manual transactions each year from planned payment users.
“This is definitely a win for everyone,” Dove said. “And it’s only the beginning of how the Treasurer’s Office will continue to expand services for the taxpayers of Richland County.”
Other types of tax payments — such as vehicle, business, and personal property taxes — can also be made in person, by mail, or online. For more information, visit the Richland County website.
