Richland County Treasurer Opens First-of-Its-Kind Tax Payment Kiosk

HOPKINS – Paying county taxes just got easier for Lower Richland residents.

Richland County Treasurer Kendra L. Dove cut the ribbon October 8 on the county’s first full-service tax payment kiosk, located inside the Magistrate’s Office at 5245 Lower Richland Boulevard.

The new touchscreen kiosk allows taxpayers to search for bills, make credit card payments, and immediately receive a printed receipt. A phone line is also available for on-the-spot assistance.

“You do not get to choose to deal with the county,” Dove said. “People need to communicate with government; therefore, we want to make it as easy as possible to interact with our office by providing this new service.”

The kiosk, available 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, accepts full payments only. Residents can still pay taxes in person at the County Administration Building, online at www.richlandcountysc.gov, at six Synovus Bank drop-off sites, or by mail.

The new payment option is part of the county’s effort to expand services to growing communities. Two additional kiosks will open October 22 — one at Ballentine Community Center in Irmo and another at North Springs Park Community Center in Columbia.

“Government should never be a barrier, but a bridge to serve citizens,” Dove said. “We’re finding partnerships to meet taxpayers where they are.”
