Rick passed away on February 26, 2025.
Rick was the first hockey director at the original Iceland USA which later became The Plex, from 2001 to 2010. Originally from Buffalo, NY, Rick (Rammer) Ramaley coached former long time NHL players Brooks Orpik and Brian Gionta during their youth careers.
Rick started the youth hockey program in Columbia and was instrumental in bringing High School hockey to the Midlands.
A celebration of life was held at the Flight Rink in Irmo on April 27, 2025. Former players participated in a ceremonial puck drop and a banner was posted inside the rink in his honor.
Many thanks to those who attended. Special thanks to former figure skating coach Bethany Raymond and businessman Joe Leonardi for organizing the event.
Rick will be forever missed by those he knew, coached, and loved.
