The railway crossing at Woodrow Street and N. Royal Tower Dr. will be closed beginning at 6 am on Tuesday, November 10 through November 11at 7 pm for repairs by CSX. The intersection has plagued drivers for decades causing vehicle damage and complaints about the uneven tracks.
According to the Town of Irmo, the tracks should be lowered and the ties fixed so that vehicles will be on a much flatter surface. The repairs are the sole responsibility of CSX Railroad.
The crossing has been repaired many times over the years but none of the fixes have lasted for long. This time it is hoped that the repairs will be more permanent.
