SC Philharmonic to Present Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert

Iconic Film with John Williams’ Score Performed Live by the Symphony

Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Philharmonic (SC Philharmonic) is thrilled to announce a special presentation of Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert, featuring the complete film accompanied by composer John Williams’ iconic Oscar®-winning score performed live by the orchestra. The concert will be conducted by Morihiko Nakahara and will take place on August 25th, 2024, with performances at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Koger Center for the Arts.

Since its release over 45 years ago, the Star Wars saga has left an indelible mark on both cinema and culture, captivating audiences worldwide with its mythic storytelling, iconic characters, and groundbreaking special effects. John Williams’ legendary musical scores have played an integral role in the saga’s success, and fans will have the opportunity to experience the magic of Star Wars on the big screen accompanied by a live symphony orchestra.

Composer John Williams is renowned for scoring all nine films of the Star Wars saga, beginning with the original Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977, for which he earned an Academy Award® for Best Original Score.
