The South Carolina Philharmonic has announced its 2026-27 season, “Find Your Sound,” a lineup of concerts exploring identity, connection and the power of music to reflect the human experience.
The season at the Koger Center for the Arts includes six Capital Concerts, along with special performances designed to appeal to audiences of all ages and interests. Programs range from orchestral masterworks to music from video games and films.
The season opens with Video Games in Concert on Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The one-night performance will feature music from Halo, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Final Fantasy VII, Tomb Raider, World of Warcraft, Kingdom Hearts and other popular games. The program celebrates the soundtracks that helped define a generation.
One of the Capital Concert Series highlights is The Golden Age of Hollywood on Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m., featuring guest violinist Geneva Lewis. The program includes Bernstein’s On the Town and West Side Story Dances, Korngold’s Violin Concerto and Herrmann’s Vertigo Suite.
The season concludes with Out of This World on April 17, 2027, at 7:30 p.m., featuring saxophonist Timothy McAllister. The program pairs Holst’s The Planets with James Lee III’s Abiding Legacy, a tribute to South Carolina astronaut Ronald McNair commemorating his legacy 40 years after the Challenger disaster.
Other Capital Concert Series highlights include Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4. The series will also feature Visions of Humanity and Unity, a new work commissioned as part of the nationwide America 250 initiative.
In addition to the Capital Concert Series, the Philharmonic will present special events at the Koger Center, including Home for the Holidays and Family Time with the Phil.
Several subscription options are available. The Capital Concert Series provides access to all six classical concerts, while Compose Your Own packages allow patrons to select four or more concerts. First-year subscribers receive a 25% discount.
The SCPGo monthly subscription provides access to Koger concerts, Chamber Crawls at local bars and restaurants, and Andy and Friends chamber concerts at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral’s Satterlee Hall. Livestream subscriptions also are available through the Philharmonic’s Virtual Concert Hall.
