Free family event honors 250th anniversary of the American Revolution
Families looking for a unique and educational way to spend their Saturday afternoon are invited to attend “The Shot Heard Round The World,” a free community event taking place Saturday, April 19 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the scenic Old Mill Pond Trail in Lexington (711 East Main Street).
Hosted by 250 American Revolution: Lexington County in partnership with Capital City/Lake Murray Country, this immersive event commemorates the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, with a special focus on the historic Battle of Lexington and Concord—the very battle that gave Lexington County its name.
This family-friendly celebration is designed to bring history to life with activities that appeal to all ages:

The evening will end with a special toast at 8:00 p.m. in honor of the “Shot Heard Round The World,” featuring locally crafted cinnamon whiskey from Hollow Creek Distillery for adults and a non-alcoholic option for children and teens.
Organizers say the event is about more than just fun—it’s a chance for families to connect with the stories and struggles that shaped our nation.
