Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson wrapped up this year’s Storytime in the Park at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12.
The mayors of Irmo, Lexington, and Chapin each hosted their own community reading events this summer, sharing stories with local children. In Irmo, readings took place in June, July, and August at the Prisma Health Amphitheater in Moore Park, located at 7473 Church Street.

“It’s all about the kids,” Mayor Danielson said. “The smiles and their reactions are worth every bit of it.” He personally selected the books for each session, which were donated to the Richland County Library.
Kona Ice provided cool refreshments for attendees at each reading, adding a sweet touch to the family-friendly gatherings.
Mayor Danielson closed out the season by showing a children’s book on napping etiquette during the final presentation—a lighthearted ending to a summer of reading and community connection.
