Three Charged in Dog Fighting Case by SLED

COLUMBIA, SC – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged three individuals in connection with a dog fighting operation in Richland County.

On June 12, Markus Anjawn Brown, 47, of Columbia, was arrested and charged with Criminal Conspiracy and Animal Fighting. The following day, he was also charged with seven counts of Ill Treatment of Animals and seven additional counts of Animal Fighting.

Lucille Oree, 69, was charged with Criminal Conspiracy and Ill Treatment of Animals, while Kionna Rakayla Grant, 27, faces charges of Criminal Conspiracy, seven counts of Ill Treatment of Animals, and seven counts of Animal Fighting.

Authorities seized 23 dogs, including six puppies, from two separate residences in Richland County. The investigation and rescue efforts were led by SLED’s Dog Fighting Unit, with assistance from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Humane World for Animals.
